about

Based on a Sacred Harp Hymn of the same name, this blistering free jazz arrangement explores the absurdity and confusion in war and our continuous failure as a society to escape its cycle.

lyrics

The words to the original hymn are:

No more shall the sound of the war-whoop be heard,
The ambush and slaughter no longer be feared.

The tomahawk, buried, shall rest in the ground,
And peace and goodwill to the nations abound.
